NEW DELHI, India, September, 2026 – The Indian Tchoukball Federation hosted a regional summit in New Delhi, bringing together senior representatives from national federations across South Asia to discuss the development of the sport and opportunities for closer cooperation. The meeting was presided over by Mr. M.F. Farooqui, IPS, President of the Indian Tchoukball Federation.
The gathering included representatives from India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Pakistan, alongside the President of the International Tchoukball Federation (FITB), Singapore. Discussions focused on strengthening relationships between national federations and creating a more coordinated approach to the growth of the sport throughout the region.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Dellen, President of the International Tchoukball Federation; Mr. Jonathan, President of the Sri Lanka Tchoukball Federation; Mr. Kalol Das, President of the Bangladesh Tchoukball Federation; Mr. Trilok Pandey, President of the Nepal Tchoukball Federation; and Mr. Faisal Asad Khokhar, Secretary General of the Pakistan Tchoukball Federation, who participated through video conference. Mr. Mahesh Bhatt also attended as a distinguished delegate accompanying the Nepalese delegation.
Representing the Indian Tchoukball Federation were Mr. Suresh Gandhi, Vice President; Dr. Rashmi Vij, Secretary General; Shri Kishan Patel, Joint Secretary; and Mr. Ashok Goyary, Treasurer.
A central focus of the summit was the systematic development of Tchoukball in South Asia. Participants exchanged views on increasing athlete participation, strengthening coaching and officiating standards, and facilitating the exchange of technical knowledge and sporting expertise among national federations. The discussions also addressed the importance of regional competitions and creating more opportunities for young and emerging athletes to gain competitive experience.
The participating federations discussed the value of maintaining regular communication and cooperation to support the exchange of knowledge, experience, and best practices. Greater coordination between national bodies was identified as an important factor in improving development pathways for athletes and providing increased exposure at regional and international levels.
The participation of representatives from five South Asian countries reflected the continuing interest in the sport and the importance of regional sporting relationships. The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss how organized competition, technical development, and institutional cooperation could contribute to stronger sporting connections across national boundaries.
The summit concluded in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, with participating federations expressing their commitment to continued dialogue and collaborative efforts. The discussions established a foundation for further cooperation on athlete development, coaching, officiating, and regional sporting activities.
The Indian Tchoukball Federation stated that continued engagement among national federations would remain important to the sustained development of the sport and the creation of opportunities for athletes across South Asia.
